The Edimax ES-1008P V2 is an eight-port PoE+ Fast Ethernet switch designed for use in home, small to medium sized network environments. With eight DIP switches, PoE ports can be set manually with on/off control, extending PoE delivery distance up to 200 meters, and port-based on/off control for VLAN and QoS is also supported. The switch easily connects and powers PoE-enabled devices such as wireless access points, network cameras, and IP phones, as well as other Ethernet-enabled devices such as computers, printers, or network-attached storage ( SIN). The compact size and fanless design make this switch ideal for expanding home and small business networks.

Features eight IEEE 802.3at Power over Ethernet (PoE+) ports that deliver up to 30 watts of power per port. It can convert standard 100-240V AC power to 50-57V DC low voltage electricity to power IEEE 802.3at compliant network accessories through existing LAN cables. With PoE detection capability, the ES-1008P V2 is able to check if the connected device is IEEE 802.3at compliant. In case a PoE device is not detected, only network data will be transmitted over the LAN cable, which means easy configuration and management of network devices such as access points and network cameras.

The built-in DIP switch provides extended modes of operation on switches 1, 2, 5, 6, and 7. The ES-1008P V2 operates as a "standard" IEEE 802.at/af PoE switch when the DIP switches are disabled. With switches enabled, the ES-1008P V2 operates on a per-port basis at 10 Mbps full-duplex operation, but can support 30 watts of PoE output power over a distance of up to 200 meters, exceeding the 100 m limit on UTP Ethernet cables. With this brand new feature, the ES-1008P V2 provides an additional solution for 802.3at/af PoE distance extension and reduces Ethernet cable installation costs.
